Penny Scheerer is a watercolorist and digital photographer. Scheerer studied watercolor technique with, among others, Jeanne Dobie, NWS, AWS and Katie Trinkle Legge. She won the Artists Association of Nantucket's C. Robert Perrin Watercolor Award in 2003. Her interest in the medium of watercolor derives from its fluidity and luminescent colors. With her camera, Scheerer seeks to capture the beauty of abstract design found in both the natural landscape of Nantucket and in the effects of nature on the island's manmade structures. She hopes her paintings and photographs celebrate the essence of such a special island.
